Lost in the Lonely Sea

I found myself lost in the sea,

swimming in the lonely and frigid water

under the pulsing and gleaming stars.

Distant midnight towering cliffs sat with the eerie tree,

along the blanket of ashen sand near the waning tanker.

And I fought to remain afloat under the heavenly altars.

The wind blew in,

whispering in harmony

with the voices that emanated from another dimension,

that wailed in agony.

Icy chills rushed through my veins,

the waves dragged me out swiftly toward the horizon.

Fighting a battle to keep my head above the water.

When the thick mist rose from the bottomless sea,

the horizon hid.

Then, the haunting caw of a raven washed before me

as its shadow pierced the curtain of mist.

Prayers answered as my toes sank in the shifting sand.
